Rudy's Pizza York

Rudy's Pizza York required a reliable background-music system that provided independent volume control for different customer areas. The owner needed a stable, easy-to-operate installation that maintained consistent audio levels across service spaces while allowing staff to adjust zone volumes quickly during service peaks.

The venue layout included distinct serving areas where different background-music levels were desirable at the same time. This created a requirement for true zoned control so front-of-house staff could attenuate or boost specific areas without affecting the rest of the venue. The customer also required equipment that integrated cleanly into an operational workflow and could be operated by non-technical staff.

Pro Technical specified a zoned audio architecture centred on Cloud Electronics zone-control hardware to provide the required per-area volume management. Cloud Electronics zoner mixers were chosen to deliver discrete volume control per zone, allowing staff to set and recall appropriate levels for service periods and quiet trading. JBL Professional loudspeakers were deployed as the venue audio transducers to provide stable, industry-standard background coverage. Where possible, the overall design prioritised simple local controls for staff, robust signal routing and clear separation between zones to avoid audio bleed and unintended interactions between areas.

The installed architecture used Cloud Electronics zoner control devices to manage independent audio zones. Each zone receives a controlled feed from the main audio source routed through the Cloud zoner hardware, enabling local adjustments while maintaining a consistent program feed. JBL Professional loudspeakers were used throughout the listening areas as the primary sound source. The system topology separated signal routing from zone-level gain control so room-level adjustments did not alter the main program feed or introduce routing conflicts.

Installation work was carried out to integrate the Cloud Electronics zoner hardware into a venue equipment rack and to position JBL loudspeakers for even coverage of the customer areas. Cabling and routing were implemented to preserve the separation of zone outputs and to ensure predictable fault-isolation behaviour. Local volume controllers were located where staff could access them quickly during service. Mounting and concealment respected the venue aesthetic while maintaining serviceability for future maintenance.

Commissioning focused on setting reference levels for each zone, confirming that adjustments on the Cloud zoner produced isolated change only to the target area, and verifying the stability of the routed programme feed. Pro Technical measured relative zone levels during typical operating conditions and adjusted zone equalisation and level trims to provide consistent perceived loudness without altering the main source characteristics. Staff handover included demonstration of zone controls and basic fault checks.
